Literature Text

A lone Wurmple leaves Lake Verity in the pouring rain, possibly a thunderstorm coming, victory in hand with a giant oddly shaped plate on his back as proof. This Wurmple is none like any other. He is normal colored on the right side of his body, but is shiny colored on the left. He wears a bandanna around his neck, similar to how a Rescue Team Member would. His bandanna is pure white with a green flame on the middle of it. He has an 'Eevee's Tail' tattoo on his back, and few cuts and scratches, like he just came out of a practice battle. There was a horizontal line across his tattoo. He limps a little as he crawls on his many legs. A foot on each side of his body limps as he crawls. He continues his path between the town and what looks to him like somebody's ranch house.

He takes a 10 min. rest next to one of the trees in his path. He finds a few berries in the tree he is resting on. Strain fully, he crawls up the tree, picks out a few of them and eats them. As he crawls back down, he sees a Lucario about a quarter mile away, burying a hole, both of them still in the rain.

"How odd for a Lucario to be burying a hole in this weather," he said in a child-like voice.
"You shouldn't be the one to talk. We're both out here too," he said in an adult voice.
"I wonder what he is burying."
"That's none of our concern. We need to stay where we are so we can rest and get this plate to Master in the morning."
"Do we always have to stay out of everything?"
"We don't know that boy. We shouldn't be going in a stranger's business for no reason.
"It wouldn't hurt to at least take a peak."
"He's burying whatever's in that hole for a reason. We don't need to see anything.
"Just a peak, then we can be on our way."
He thinks about that last request he made to himself.
"Fine, but one peak then we return under one of these trees."

After he gets down from the tree, he stays under the leaves and waits for the Lucario to leave. After 1-2 minutes, he finishes the burying and heads inside the ranch house. Once he goes inside, the Wurmple crawls to the hole, still limping. It takes about 5 minutes for him to get there, due to his limping on a foot each side. The rain wasn't any help either. Once he gets there, he puts the plate on its back down and starts digging with his stingers.

He finds a dirty egg that felt even colder than before it was buried. It still didn't have any cracks; in fact the only thing wrong with it was the cold it gave off.

"What a pity. The poor boy never got a chance," he said in the child voice, but with an emotionless face.
"It is sad for such a young man to have an egg that can never hatch," he said, but in the adult voice, also no emotion.
"Should we do something in respect for him?"
"We should bury it back, for starters."
"Okay, like you said before."

He reburies the egg and flattens the dirt by crawling on it multiple times. The limping still made it hard for him. As he picks up the plate, puts it on his back and crawls to a tree to hide him from the rain, he turns his head to the hole and gives himself an idea: there was a way for the egg to hatch, and he was carrying it on his back.

"Zachary, are you really sure we should just leave the poor boy without his child?" the child voice said.
"You ask that as if we're the only ones that can fix his situation," the adult voice said.
"But we are. Don't you remember that's the same way the other plate mediums hatched from their eggs?"
He thinks about that statement for a second.
"Joseph no. We already fought too hard to get this plate just now."
"We can always get it again."
"That's not the point. Our orders are to take the plate to Master as soon as we retrieve it."
"But he doesn't know we just retrieved it."
"It doesn't matter. We cannot just give such a powerful plate to some random stranger. Anyone is smart enough to know that."
"What if it was just for a little while?"
He pauses for a few seconds.
"What do you mean?
"It's just as the old quote says, 'It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."
"What exactly are you suggesting?"
"We don't we give the boy his kid just until he grows up to be 1. When that happens, we can pretend nothing ever happened and we can proceed with our mission like before."
"How do you know it'll be a boy?"
"It could be a boy, yet it could be a girl too."

He thought about the logic in this idea. He is still obeying his master, but completing his mission would just take longer than it should have. Also, this time it could be easier to retrieve since the child won't even know about the plate inside and the boy looked too inexperienced to be a challenge. Even if the child had back-up, it wouldn't matter. The green-flame on his bandanna isn't just for decoration.

"Very well, then. We'll give the plate to the egg for a while, but once it's a year old, we continue our mission."
"Fair enough."

After making this agreement, he crawls toward the filled hole and dug out the egg with his stingers once more. Again, the limping makes it take longer. Once he has the egg, he takes the plate off his back, puts it on the ground and puts the egg on top of it with his many legs.

"Do you remember how to do this, Joseph?"
"I just wonder how you remember it at all."
"It wasn't too long ago that we saw our Species' leader in process once."
"But still, you remember how to seal the plate after watching him once?"
"It's not that hard, it just takes so long to do."

He starts the plate sealing. It starts to glow light purple and the egg glowed white. He puts two of his front legs together, puts the tip of his head stinger on the egg and yells out,

"Multitype Seal: Sky Plate!"

It takes about an hour for the process to fully complete. Once it was done, the egg was fully alive, healthy enough to hatch anytime before morning came. However, because the rain still went on, the Wurmple had to take the egg to the Ranch House so it won't get soaked, which also took a while.

He reaches the door, puts the egg down and stands on his front legs to knock with his lower body. He knocks 3-4 times, twice, but no response. He stands back on his hind legs and uses String Shot to aim at the door bell. After a few seconds, the same Lucario who buried the egg opened the door and saw the Wurmple walking away. He grows confused as to why a Wurmple just knocks on the door, in the middle of the stormy night, and just walks away.

"IT'S MIDNIGHT, YOU JERK!!" the Lucario yelled in anger.

Before he could slam the door shut, he notices glowing at his feet. He saw an egg about to hatch. He became surprised at this wonderful sight. When the glowing was done, what appeared before him was a cute, female Buneary with sky blue, fluffed fur. She also had sky blue fur on her forehead in the shape of a diamond. She looked at the Lucario's feet and up to his face. She smiled at him, like she was ready to face a new neighborhood. He just stood there and gazed at this miracle. How could such a great miracle happen? Even though midnight wasn't exactly the most brightening part of the day, a miracle was a miracle.

"Oh…my…god," thought the Lucario.

She just continued to look and smile. He remembered that she was still in the rain, picked her up as she giggled and took her inside. Before he closed the door, he looked outside one more time, assuming the Wurmple was still out there.

"SORRY ABOUT THAT, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!" he yelled in joy, just before the Wurmple became too far to see.
In case you can't tell, the Wurmple in this chapter is a schizophrenic. His normal and shiny colors represent his split personality. Why I chose a Wurmple when there is so many cooler Pokemon out there is because of what this Wurmple can do. His schizophrenia is a hint.

There you go, the egg is alive and hatched, and Vincent is the first Pokemon she sees. Maybe she'll call him daddy. That would be so cute.

Edit Alert: I switched from Twinleaf Town to Lake Verity since that is where Jenna really lives...nearby. Also, I changed the Wurmple from waiting 'til she evolves to turning Vincent's age. I did this because I just recently made a new rule about Plate Mediums: they CAN'T evolve from the BASIC Stage.
